NOW IS THE TIME TO HAVE THOSE CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS.
The terrain keeps shifting beneath our feet.
Goals, targets and values we aimed for are shifting, disappearing, or relocating. Uncertainty rules. It’s understandable to be tempted by the desire to get your head down, retrench, and focus on the tasks immediately in front of you. But that’s poor preparation for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Now is exactly the time to ensure that crucial conversations are part of your leadership and personal development.
Coaching meanstaking the time to have those crucial conversations that you are usually too driven or busy to have. Yet you know your effectiveness and the value you could return to your organisation or community would be so much greater if you only made space to think and plan strategically, connect your to do list to your real values and priorities, and see the bigger picture.
In coaching you will be deeply listened to. And through this listening you will find your way to a fresh, empowering understanding of your self, your situation and your contribution.
In our specialised Leadership Embodiment somatic coaching you will be offered simple, powerful tools to find greater presence, confidence and connection. Especially under pressure.
Coaching helps you clarify your values, providing yourself with a compass to navigate uncertain seas. Through coaching you can raise your head above the urgency of your daily to do list and see the bigger picture, enabling to respond better , access your creativity, and prepare for the oncoming shifts. Now is the time to ensure you build sufficient depth, flexibility, and centeredness to your leadership to be equal to whatever comes over the horizon.
Now is the time to put first things first and prioritise what is really important….your development and effectiveness as a leader and person. Put first things first….have those crucial conversations.

Extremely successful. Has covered a wide are of CPD. Much more than one course could. Many skills gained are ones that I can pass on when I’m coaching others. Has allowed me to feel more positive about goals for the future. Will help to build a stronger team. Could not rate it high enough… The time between sessions have enable time to develop and grow. This has meant time in sessions is 100% productive. Also sessions are designed to meet my individual needs. Other CPD rarely is! D, HEAD OF DEPARTMENT.
I have become much more focused on the role of leadership and interested in it from an intellectual perspective. Similarly I have reflected on my areas of weakness and thought about the different approaches that can be taken regarding an issue rather than always thinking that my way is the only way! It also allowed me to confront the fact that I did want to move in to Leadership and it gave me a sense of direction. For me the most successful element has been the insightful conversations that have taken place in to my experiences, my thoughts and my expectations of others. This may sound very self-indulgent but in our profession we rarely get this kind of an opportunity in a one to one situation. I would most definitely recommend coaching to others because it allows you to explore who you really are and how this impacts on your professional life. I can see a benefit to everyone, however to reflect on your practice and approach perhaps this is best served when you have gained some experience. I found it particularly useful because I was new to a role and therefore I didn’t always have confidence in my actions so it was good to talk them through with somebody else. T, SENIOR LEADER.
It helped me to take a step back and reflect on what had gone well, what my priorities were and it gave me practical ideas on new ways of working and thinking about things. It helped me to take a step back and reflect on what had gone well, what my priorities were and it gave me practical ideas on new ways of working and thinking about things. It has helped me to realize the type of leader I want to be and what I need to do to go about achieving that. M. NEW LEADER
(Compared to the impact of ordinary CPD, the impact of coaching iS….) Longer lasting, I am still considering the issued raised as part of the coaching as it has prompted an ongoing process rather than just finding out about interesting issues in teaching. L, ADVANCED SKILLS TEACHER.
I think the coaching has been very successful as CPD; it has made me look at my current practice and goals in a much more personalized way, and has therefore allowed me to make individual decisions which I would have been unable to in a group based CPD session. I, TEACHER.
It has allowed me to be more reflective on a personal and professional level. It has also shown me how to use a variety of strategies effectively and put them into practice… Also a belief in myself about possible projects that could have a massive impact … were born out of the meetings…. The ability to talk openly about my strengths and my weaknesses. I found it more difficult to talk about my strengths and this was an education… I think the ability to think past the here and now, giving a clearer insight into how other members of staff and students could be brought together as a community…..Yes, I would definitely recommend it. I found that being able to talk about not only the professional, but also personal aspects have allowed me to see things much clearer. I entered the coaching sessions at quite a stressful period in my life, and I can honestly say it has helped me stay sane. But this does not have to be the case. Staff should be encouraged to take this coaching as it benefits not only the school but the individual in question. M,TEACHER.
Not only have we achieved our targets during the sessions, but we also got clarity on situations that have been bothering me…. I found the 360 feedback very useful in building confidence as well as providing areas for improvement. The way it was presented to me made ALL the difference… The clarity I got from the sessions improved my relationships… I felt a reason to move forward and had developed the confidence to excel in my strengths and improve the areas where I felt needed attention. The comfortable way in which the sessions were presented contributed greatly to how I could deal with uncomfortable truths…. Yes. The clarity you get from having someone listen to you and provide effective feedback is very empowering. G, SECOND IN DEPARTMENT.
I feel coaching has been very successful. I feel more confident in my position. I have looked at my role … what I feel holds me back from pursuing ideas and ways for overcoming theses feelings. I have realized the need to be more assertive and step forward from the background, in order to feel more fulfilled in my role…. Coaching has given me the extra support and encouragement to assess my role and empowered me to put forward and work on ideas. … I feel I have gained direction and motivation…. Feeling empowered to fulfil my potential within my role and the confidence to act on my convictions…. I would recommend coaching to other colleagues, with a view to personal development within their career. I would also recommend coaching as a form of confidence building and gaining direction and self-assessment. E, MENTOR.
I have used the techniques learnt in the sessions for managing work load and better organizing myself….I am more clear about my duties at work and am better equipped at delegating those tasks that need to be so. My career aspirations have re-awakened also…Learning how to delegate tasks and spread the work load throughout the department so that no one person is too heavy loaded with work…. I would recommend it to any person who is on a job position similar to me, as the training I have received seems fitted well to those working towards middle management. Y, SECOND IN DEPARTMENT.
(Coaching has been..) Very useful – good focusing for me in a number of ways …. Made me look carefully at me & my role within the school & what I really want and where I want to be. Made me have more faith in my own ideas – I don’t always have to please everyone else!… Time to think and make up my mind – where usually I would run ahead acting on instinct.. ….. Yes – I think all should try it at least once. L FACULTY LEADER
(Coaching has been…) Very successful, it help a lot in defining where I am now and where I want to be… …Gained more confidence in taking the lead in certain departmental areas… Gained confidence in my leadership abilities… will have a more active role in … my department taking on more leadership roles, mentoring members of my department with more confidence F, SECOND IN DEPARTMENT.
I would definitely recommend coaching as it can help step back, reflect and take stock on a professional situation, and help find new ways of improving it, on a human level as well. It is particularly helpful for problem solving, and taking a direction to move forward. LIBRARIAN.
I have been able to approach people to have the “more difficult” discussions which I found uncomfortable and difficult beforehand. I have been able to think through how to tackle a situation and put methods into practice. I have been able to do a self check to see how my body is responding to the day to day pace of the work environment. This …year has been a big change and has been a stressful and fast paced one so far and the coaching has allowed me to see my role from different angles and enabled me to approach people and situations in a way I may not have done before which has resulted in a positive situation or result. I have been able to reflect and become calmer in my approach, whether that is thinking through what actions I must take or by reflecting how I go about it the next time…. … I would recommend coaching as it is a dedicated “YOU” time that gives you access to challenge how you feel or understand your reactions and thought to different challenges. HEAD OF DEPARMENT.
Before I felt very overwhelmed with tasks so put them all off. Now I take the approach that even a small step towards what I need to get done is better than nothing at all. Once I have started then, it is easier to carry on. I would (recommend coaching), as it helps you see the wood from the trees! John was excellent at opening up other options and avenues to be considered for a course of action. Also, its great to feel you and your needs/concerns are someone’s priority for 1 hour! L, TEACHER.
